XCOM 2 is a continuation of the XCOM: Enemy Unknown strategy, which was beloved by players and critics, who received the title "Game of the Year" in 2012. The earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders signed the act of unconditional surrender to the aliens. The XCOM organization, the last frontier of the Earth’s defense, is destroyed, and its remnants are scattered around the world. In XCOM 2, aliens rule the planet, building it up with sparkling cities and promising a bright future for humanity. However, aliens secretly hatched sinister plans and destroy everyone who refuses to live by the new rules. Only those who live on the outskirts of the new world retained the remnants of freedom. They gather strength to repel the invaders. Forced to constantly hide from an enemy superior in strength, former XCOM agents are trying to revive their organization, expose the invaders and destroy them once and for all. XCOM UNDERGROUND: Become the captain of Avenger, an alien transport ship converted to the XCOM mobile headquarters. The new open world of the game gives you the opportunity to choose where to deliver the next blow, how to enlist the support of the population and when to carry out special operations that disrupt Advent plans. Hire Resistance Fighters: Five classes of fighters, each with their own unique talent tree, will allow you to create squads of soldiers whose skills are best suited to implement your tactical plans. Partisan Tactics: The new game mechanics will give you more freedom in battles. Use shelters to ambush enemy patrols and take combat trophies from the corpses of defeated opponents. Rescue VIPs and wounded comrades in arms, dragging them into the evacuation zone. A NEW GENERATION OF ENEMIES: A variety of opponents, from new advanced types of aliens to military Advent, chain dogs of the new regime, create tactical diversity on the battlefield. EXPLORE, PRODUCE AND IMPROVE: Design and build compartments aboard the Avenger to gain superiority on the battlefield. Use scientists and engineers to research, create, and upgrade weapons and armor that are best suited to your battle style. EACH TASK IS UNIQUE UNIQUE: go on missions around the world - from wild lands to the very center of alien-controlled cities and the depths of enemy complexes. You are waiting for almost infinitely diverse combinations of cards, tasks and goals. CREATE YOUR OWN MODIFICATIONS: special game tools will allow players to create their own campaigns, tactical and strategic game features, aliens and new classes of fighters, and then share them with the game community through the Steam workshop. JOIN STRIKED BATTLES WITH OTHER PLAYERS: create mixed squads from aliens and people and fight with other players on randomly generated maps.
